For the past couple of years I have wanted to make a 3D work that encompasses both the skeletal forms of the cast elements and the calligraphic tracks. It took a while but I found that I could create a 3 dimensional representation of the calligraphy from soldered copper wire dipped in gesso and marble dust.

The resulting small sculpture has a working title of Traces: That which is left behind. The 3rd movement of Beethoven’s String Quartet #15 seems to capture this spirit. Appropriately this was the next to last off his compositions
